Weymouth:

Weymouth is one of Britain’s most famous smaller seaside resorts.  The town is loved for its sweeping sandy bay and for the character of its beautiful Georgian seafront and promenade.

 

The town was once a favourite haunt of George the third whose connection with the area is commemorated in a chalk carving on White Horse Hill, to the East of Weymouth.

 

Weymouth also has a thriving harbour and marina.  The harbour is used by both both fishing vessels and pleasure craft.  It also provides a home for Condor’s fast ferry services to the Channel Islands.  Weymouth Quay was once the destination for a special “boat train” from London, which provided a direct link between the capital and cross-channel ferries.  The quay-side at Weymouth is a rarity, as cars drive along the railway lines!

 

In recent years much of the harbour area has been renovated and is now even more popular with visitors and locals alike for its scenic eateries, attractions and shopping at “Brewers Quay”.
